Electronics

Our electronics work begins where the sensor does. We design the measurement and control chain that sits between a testing machine and the person using it: high-resolution differential acquisition across force, displacement, strain and whatever else a test depends on; automatic sensor recognition and linearisation, so a load cell reads correctly the moment it is fitted; and closed-loop control fast and stable enough to hold a ramp, a dwell or a cycle to the tolerance a standard asks for. Around that sit the things a laboratory needs in practice — digital inputs and outputs, interlocks and emergency circuits, and operator controls that feel right in the hand.

Software

On the software side we work from the firmware up to the certificate: acquisition and control close to the hardware, and above it an application that describes a test once — specimen, loading profile, limits, calculations and report — then runs it the same way every time, at a workstation or on a panel built into the machine itself. Results are worked out to the published method rather than to a formula fixed in the code, and what leaves the laboratory, whether a certificate, a data file or a line into another system, is set up once and applied to every test that follows.

Modernisation

Most of the machines we are called to have nothing wrong with their mechanics. The frame is sound; it is the electronics, the hydraulics or the software around it that have aged out, and the spares have stopped being made. We take those machines on whole — refurbishing mechanical parts, reworking hydraulics and drives, replacing the measurement and control chain, fitting current software and an operator interface, and bringing the safety circuits up to date in the same pass. What comes back is a machine that tests to today's standards and keeps a proper record of what it did, for a fraction of the cost of replacing it. We work on equipment of any make, and the laboratory carries on with a machine its people already know.
